About Swarali 

With 14 years of progressive facilitation and training experience augmented by a strong background in Psychology, Arts Based Therapy, Gender and Sexuality, Swarali has been able to challenge and guide people through individual and group counselling, collaborative processes, theatre intervention, storytelling and employee engagement programs. 

 

She has worked in various schools, counselling centres, drug de-addiction centres, private organisations etc. She specialises in using art for personal development and self-expression.

 

Swarali holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. She is a certified Arts based Therapy Practitioner. She is a certified Life Skills trainer and curriculum designer.

She has designed and conducted several workshops on self-awareness and self-expression using art. 

 

Over the last few years, she has worked as a counsellor and therapist on issues related to anxiety, stress, emotional issues, relationships, major life changes and individuals seeking personal growth and improvement. She collaborates with multiple non-profit organisations, offering her insights and guidance. At ‘Point of View (POV)’ in Mumbai, India, Swarali Marathe takes the lead in ‘Udaan - Himayat Pathshala Project’. Her role involves a keen understanding of grassroots advocacy needs, specifically in the realm of gender equality across diverse contexts. Swarali actively shapes and delivers tailored advocacy programs that seamlessly integrate gender and sexuality elements with various media formats. She is deeply involved in crafting and managing advocacy curricula, training modules, and other components designed to strengthen grassroots advocacy capacities. Additionally, she plays a central role in the comprehensive execution of plans, to assess the impact of the grassroots advocacy portfolio, overseeing all project aspects from implementation and collaboration with partners to impact measurement and donor reporting.

 

In her role as a Consultant at ‘Tech Sakhi’, a helpline for online gender-based violence, Swarali is dedicated to the comprehensive training and support of helpline responders. Her responsibilities encompass, training the responders in essential skills such as empathy and open-ended questioning, specifically focusing on handling online gender-based violence issues. She provides one-on-one support to team members, emphasising self-care and regular check-ins. Swarali actively identifies any skill gaps and co-ordinates to provide necessary support. Her commitment extends to conducting weekly check-ins to maintain the team's status and mental well-being, including monthly workshops to enhance skills and address any challenges that may arise in handling online gender-based violence cases.

She also practises ‘Playback Theatre and Theatre of the Oppressed’. She has done several storytelling performances at schools, festivals, NGOs etc. She was a part of  ‘Arts with Care' - a project by Tamaasha Theatre for Cancer Patients sheltered at St. Jude. She has been a theatre enthusiast and has acted in several plays, short films, and more.

She is also a voice-over artist and has dubbed for animation films, cartoon series, feature films, and ads, among others.
